As the rapid-fire pace of technological development motivates consumers to more frequently upgrade their electronics products, millions of used cellphones, computers and televisions are being discarded each year. At RadioShack, we strongly encourage our customers to recycle these items — many of which can be refurbished and donated to schools, community centers and non-profit organizations.
Even used electronics items that are damaged beyond repair or too obsolete for continued use often have components and raw materials that can be "harvested" by "certified recyclers" for the development of new items, thereby conserving valuable natural resources. Proper disposal of used electronics items is important to minimize the impact of certain materials in these devices.
