Helping Young People Get a Leg Up on Life

RadioShack is committed to strengthening educational opportunities for young people, particularly those living with social, economic, or educational challenges. We also believe in helping students, teachers and parents make the most of the opportunities technology has to offer.

RadioShack partners with Sweat Equity Enterprises (SEE), a unique non-profit micro-enterprise of diverse urban youth that provides professional training in design, marketing and technology. Founded in 2004, SEE’s purpose is to help underserved youth discover their creative potential and motivate them to learn.

SEE’s educational process taps teen interest in fashion and technology to teach the basics of design, marketing, production and finance. The process has proven to boost critical thinking, financial literacy and confidence, improving school performance and helping prepare at-risk teens for a career.

RadioShack supports the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), the nation’s largest, oldest, most successful and most comprehensive minority higher education assistance organization. UNCF provides operating funds and technology enhancement services for 39 member historically black colleges and universities, scholarships and internships for students at about 900 institutions and faculty and administrative professional training.

Since 1993, RadioShack has been a national corporate sponsor of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE). SIFE is a global, non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries. Working in partnership with business and higher education, SIFE establishes student teams on university campuses. These teams, led by faculty advisors, are challenged to develop community outreach projects that reach SIFE's five educational topics (market economics, success skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and business ethics). Through such support, RadioShack encourages all young people to aspire to be the best they can be.

RadioShack participates in SIFE career fairs, and hundreds of students have been recruited at these events. In addition, RadioShack store managers serve as recruiters or even judges at over 20 SIFE competitions annually, where they have the chance to network with SIFE students and their professors.
